I can’t count the number of times people have told me they couldn’t be Vegan because they don’t like salads. Seriously, do omnivores really think all us Vegans eat is salad? To tell you the truth, I can’t even remember the last time a salad crossed my lips. Don’t get me wrong, I love a nice, green spinach salad with a tangy dressing and loads of toppings, but that is hardly the staple of my diet.
It’s true that a Vegan diet can be a really healthy one that is not only great for the animals but great for your own body, too. That’s just one of those wonderful side benefits of the lifestyle (one of many!) but I have a soft spot in my heart (and tummy!) for snacks just like anyone else. No, I don’t nosh on rice cakes and buckwheat crackers all day (not that there is anything wrong with that) and, in fact, take a lot of pride in stocking my snack cabinet. (Most from the amazing Trader Joe’s).
This week it’s stocked full of some of my favorites such as dark chocolate covered cherries, Tings, kettle corn, salt and pepper chips, maple cookies, candy cane cookies, dark chocolate covered pretzels, krispy treats, and fruit chews:
Oh, and that’s not even including all the amazing goodies in the freezer. That’s a picture for another day (Hello, Tofutti Cuties!). So don’t worry about us Vegans not enjoying the our food because, I assure you, we most definitely do.
